What is your shutter made of? |
Aluminum |
Wood, Vinyl |
The material with which your shutter is constructed is the greatest factor in how long it will last. |
Wood simply does not last in our climate. Wood will rot, it is just a matter of time. How many beautiful homes have you seen with wooden shutters that are barely hanging onto the house? That will never happen with aluminum. When fully exposed, vinyl is not ideal either, as warping and cracking are common occurrences over time. |
Who designed your LAS shutter? |
LAS |
Material Distribution Companies |
When there are issues with the performance or components of your shutter, the only party with the ability to address the issues is the one who owns the designs. |
LAS owns our own designs. That means that every component of our shutter was drawn by an LAS engineer. The vast majority of competitors purchase extrusions and permission to use designs from a metal distribution company. This means they have little to no power to effect changes or improvements to materials and designs. |
Who manufactured your shutter? |
LAS |
? |
Warranties come from the manufacturer. If your shutter needs service, who are you calling? |
When you need service on your shutter, you know who you are dealing with. We have been in business for over 60 years and our shutters come with a product warranty from LAS. The same people who sold the shutter, manufactured and installed the shutter |
Who will be installing your shutter? |
LAS Employees |
Subcontractors |
A faulty installation can do serious damage to your home. Also, it doesn’t matter what your shutter is rated or how great the product is if it is not installed properly for that rating. |
Everyone who installs LAS shutters has been properly trained for our specific products. They are experienced and knowledgeable of all the nuances of LAS Homegard products, so you can rest assured that you will receive a proper installation. |
What type of coated finish does your shutter have? |
AAMA 2604 Powder |
Super Durable Powder, AAMA 2603 Powder, Liquid Paint |
The type of coating used, will determine the how long your color lasts, and how strong it is in resisting marks. |
Powder coating is the preferred method of coating architectural products. It provides a more durable finish than liquid paints can offer, while still providing an attractive finish. Powder coated products are more resistant to diminished coating quality as a result of impact, moisture, chemicals, ultraviolet light, and other extreme weather conditions. In turn, this reduces the risk of scratches, chipping, abrasions, corrosion, fading, and other wear issues. LAS takes this a step farther by using AAMA 2604 powder formulations which are costlier but result in an outstanding coating quality and endurance. |
Are your louvers a full shape or flat? |
Full Shape |
Flat, Depends |
Fully-hollow louver shapes maintain a authentic look for your shutter. |
LAS uses only full-shaped hollow louvers in our shutters. Some companies may opt to use a design which utilizes flat solid louver shapes to save money as hollow profiles are more expensive to extrude. We believe the aesthetic sacrifice is not worth it. |
Does your shutter have built in theft protection? |
Customized hinges with hidden bolts |
Exposed bolts |
Most companies use bolts and nuts to complete their hinge which can easily be disassembled. |
LAS Shutters use hinges with integral hinge pins, this means that they can’t be removed without some serious work. We also flip the top hinges on each shutter so that the shutter can’t be lifted off of its hinges. |
Who do you call when your shutter needs service? |
LAS |
The company who sold it? Manufacturer? Subcontractor who installed it? |
If your shutter needs service, you can call LAS instead of trying to track down a subcontractor that has no ties to the company you bought your shutter from. |
No matter what, if it is an LAS shutter, we will service it. LAS has a long history and will be here in the future. |
