The difference between LAS RollGard Shutters and many other types of rolldown shutters is the multiple slat type design. The lengths of material that interlock together to form the “roll” are referred to as slats. The vast majority of rolldown shutters utilize a design in which every slat is the same. While this design can provide similar storm protection performance, it also can be forced open by use of a lever, such as a crowbar, much easier as the slats will roll up in a more rigid fashion because the lifting force is transferred cleanly through the roll.
LAS Rollgard shutters have a smaller, intermediate slat between every primary slat, which results in the slats wanting to roll up on themselves inside the track when an upward lifting force is applied. The friction this causes inside the track does not allow the lifting force to be transferred more than a few slats up from the lever.
